Projects promoting healthy lifestyles in the Scarborough Borough are seeing good results according to the county's health leaders.
A pilot project in Scarborough that encourages people to get out and enjoy a walk is being hailed as a success.
The idea is to improve people's health by providing a series of local trails they can explore.
Public Health Manager - Dan Atkinson - says the project has led to the creation of a new ramblers group in the town.
The Scarborough Trails project has seen the creation of a series of maps to help people explore the local area. The routes range from half a mile to five miles in length and can be found at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/scarborough-trail-maps
At the same time a programme that helps people stop smoking has seen a higher success rate in Scarborough than anywhere else in North Yorkshire.
The Living Well Smoke Free program provides support to people wanting to quit.
Dan Atkinson says there are now plans to build on the success with new pilot programmes in the town.
More information about the Living Well Smoke Free programme is available at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/stopping-smoking
