An increase in the number of properties being converted into holiday lets is causing concern
Has the staycation boom gone to far?
Concerns have been raised locally about the number of houses being converted in to holiday lets and second homes.
The worry is that not only does that mean there are fewer homes available for local people, but it also could undermine local communities.
Scarborough Borough Councillor Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff is worried.
Councillor Donohue-Moncrieff feels that the effect of the staycation boom on housing in the Scarborough Borough needs to be part of a national debate.
The borough has seen an increase in the number of properties being converted in to second homes and holiday lets, putting pressure on the number of houses available for local people.
Councillor Donohue-Moncrieff says it's not something the borough is going to be able to solve on it's own.
