Nominations for the Eastfield by-election have closed with six candidates putting themselves forward for election.
The six candidates will contest North Yorkshire Council's first ever by-election next month.
Nominations for the Eastfield division seat in Scarborough have closed with voters going to the polls on Thursday, May 25.
The candidates are:
- Eric Batts, The Conservative Party
- Will Forbes, The Green Party
- Tony Randerson
- David Charles Thompson, Labour Party
- Tim Thorne, Independent
- Erica Danielle Willett, Liberal Democrat
Voting will take place from 7am to 10pm with the election count taking place in the evening after the close of polling. Voters attending the polling station for the by-election on the May 25 will need to bring photographic identification in order to be able to vote.
Residents in the Eastfield area have until Tuesday, May 9 to register to vote and until 5pm on Wednesday, May 10 to apply for a postal vote. If someone is unable to vote in person or by post they have until 5pm on Wednesday, May 17 to apply for a proxy vote.
The election has been caused through the resignation of the former councillor.
