The latest data shows the infection rate is down to 38 cases per 100,000 people but the number of hospital patients is up.
The infection rate in the borough had been slowly climbing over the last few weeks.
The seven day infection rate had been as low as 20 cases per 100,000 people in early march but had risen to 48 in the dataset released yesterday, which shows the figures for the seven days up to March 27th.
New figures released by North Yorkshire County Council today show that the latest data from Public Health England puts the rate for the seven days up to March 29th at 38.6. The council have rounded this down to 38. A drop of 10 on yesterday's data.
This is still higher than the North Yorkshire average, which is 35, but lower than the all England average of 44.
The data is yet to be reflected in the published graphs.
Richard Webb from North Yorkshire County Council says the fall is encouraging but warns against complacency.
At the same time while the number of COVID patients in hospital in the county has fallen this week there has been an increase at Scarborough Hospital.
Amanda Bloor from the NHS in North Yorkshire says there are now 8 patients with COVID in Scarborough Hospital.
