The traditional season opener for the Real Roads Racing season happens this weekend at Scarborough's Oliver's Mount, as the Bob Smith Spring Cup takes place.
Oliver’s Mount Road Race circuit – Situated just five minutes from Scarborough’s town centre, the races have been likened to a ‘miniature TT by the seaside’. Edge-of-seat racing, the closest action seen at any race venue, friendly organisers and a stunning setting are all key features of a race weekend at Oliver’s Mount. Importantly, for the racers, the 2.43 mile track has always been regarded as a challenging, tight and twisty circuit, which tests their skills to the maximum.
The Bob Smith Spring Cup is the traditional season opener for the Real Roads Racing season. It is the first chance to see many of the top solo riders and sidecar teams on their new bikes for 2024 as they prepare for upcoming TT, Manx and Irish Road Races.
Over the years the event has become more popular, and as Event Director Andy Hayes explains the event builds more each year.
The venue plays host to the the Barry Sheene Festival in June and also the Cock O' the North in July - however Andy is proud that the Real Road Racing Season starts and ends in the North Yorkshire.
Additionally, over the years as the event has gained traction, more activities have been added, and it really has become an event supported across the UK by fans, as well the locals.
The event opens each day at 9am and closes on Sunday at 6pm.
