Seadogs One Point From Play Offs As They Leapfrog Local Rivals

Another last minute Lewis Maloney goal has sent Scarborough Athletic to the fringes of a play-off place in the NPL Premier.

Boro leapfrogged rivals Whitby Town to go just one point from the play-offs on Saturday.

Jono Greening's men won 1-0 at Stalybridge Celtic after Maloney's late goal- the former Whitby midfielder had secured a draw against Morpeth with a last-gasp free-kick.

Greening told Scarborough Athletic TV he felt it was a deserved victory:

Meanwhile, Town were beaten 2-0 at home by Atherton Collieries.

It's now four league games without a win for the Seasiders who drop to seventh in a crowded play-off picture.

Town joint manager Lee Bullock told Whitby Town TV that something needs to change:

Bridlington Town took another step to NPL East safety after beating Pontefract 2-0.

Danny Earl was the hero with a goal in each half at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.

The only sour point was a sending off for Brid skipper Nathan Hotte.
