David Birdsall has been talking about how he got the job, to celebrate International Town Criers Day today.
He's been Scarborough's Town Crier since 2015.
Back then, the then Town Crier Alan Booth was retiring and David says he contacted the Town Hall saying he wanted the job.
He was invited to audition with others who also fancied the role and found himself in a 'Shout Off'!
"I had two Cries to make. One was about Yorkshire Day and the other was one I'd written myself about Falsgrave Park because I'm deeply involved in Falsgrave Park. There were two of us in the final 'Shout Off'. We went for tea at Lord Roseberry's and we got a call saying "Well done you've got the job".
David says he only has one outfit and the coat weighs a whopping 22 pounds!
His annual events include Armed Forces Day and Scarborough's Pancake Race. He also gets invited by the Lions to attend the New Year's Day Dip in South Bay and may other events thorughout the year.
On New Year's Day 2023 he was filmed by Sky News proclaiming the arrival of Thor the Walrus. He said people contacted him from America and Australia after seeing the video.
