It's the first-ever Scarborough Covid Service of Reflection on Sunday.
It coincides with National Covid Remembrance Day.
The organiser is local Funeral Director, George Roberts:
" So we're having a service of reflection at St. Mark's Church at Newby and it's just an opportunity for key workers, volunteers of the pandemic and anybody that perhaps lost somebody during that period of time, who couldn't say bye in the traditional way, to gather, to remember everything that happened and just reflect back on that time really in the quiet space of St. Mark's Church.
"We understand and acknowledge that the act of remembrance is very important."
The service is at St Mark's Church, on Coldyhill Lane from 2pm.
It's a 30-40 minute half an hour ceremony followed by candle lighting and light refreshment.
George says his funeral service teamed up with a local care home owner to provide the opportunity for people to reflect on lost loved ones:
"We hold a memorial service every year and we were approached by Saint Cecilia's because they played a big part, working on the frontline in social care.
"They attended our memorial service and they said do you think it would be good to partner? Because we still have families that we're in touch with who lost loved ones during the pandemic and couldn't have a proper funeral, and to a certain extent that the pandemic's been forgotten about, six years down the line.
"So that's where the idea's come from and we hope it could continue as a yearly event."
