Scarborough is hosting its annual Pride event on Saturday, featuring a record-breaking parade through the town centre and a packed line-up of entertainment at the Spa.
A vibrant parade and a packed schedule of live entertainment will take over Scarborough this Saturday for the annual Pride event.
Colourful celebrations will fill the streets as the town comes together for an afternoon and evening of festivities.
The event, which is now in its fourth year in its current form, will bring music, performances, and community support to the Yorkshire Coast.
A record-breaking procession will kick off the day, offering plenty of vantage points for spectators wanting to join in the celebrations.
Marchers will make their way through the heart of the town centre, travelling along Eastborough and Westborough.
The cavalcade will then head along Foreshore Road, taking in the seafront before arriving at the Spa for the main event.
Chief sponsor McCain will lead the parade, promising a special surprise for onlookers.
A dedicated party bus carrying local drag queens will follow closely behind, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Organisers have confirmed that around 250 people will take part in the march, marking a significant milestone and making it the biggest parade they have ever staged.
Ben Jackson, co-chair of Scarborough Pride, outlined the plans for the route and the procession.
He said:
"So we've got loads planned this year, so we've got our parade going through the town centre, with McCain, our chief sponsor at the front, with a special surprise from them as well. We'll have our party bus with our local drag queens on and we've got about 250 people in the parade this year, so one of our biggest that we've ever done and the parade itself runs right the way through the town centre, along Eastborough and Westborough, along Foreshore Road, and ends up at the Spa where we have our main event. So, this is actually just our fourth year, in its current form, so yeah, we're four years young."
Once the parade concludes at Scarborough Spa, the venue will host a diverse array of live entertainment running throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Attendees will have the choice of two performance areas, with the main stage located in the main hall and a second stage set up in the sun court.
More than 25 acts are scheduled to perform across the two stages, offering a wide variety of entertainment for the crowds.
Award-winning Lady Gaga tribute act Donna Marie will headline the event.
She will deliver what organisers describe as a great live show to round off the celebrations at the end of the day.
Beyond the stage performances, the event will feature its largest ever marketplace.
Over 40 stalls will be packed into the venue, supported by local traders.
The marketplace will also serve an important community function, providing a space for charities and organisations to connect with the public.
Advice and support will be readily available, with these groups on hand to offer guidance to both the LGBTQ+ community and the wider public.
Ben Jackson detailed the extensive line-up and community presence at the Spa:
"So, we have two stages in the venue. The main stage in the main hall and the sun court stage, where we've got, just over 25 acts I think it is now. Our headline performance this year is a Lady Gaga tribute act, award winning, really great, Donna Marie, she's called, putting on a great live show at the end of the day there. We've also got our marketplace, so this year we've got over 40 stalls. So, again, it's actually our biggest marketplace yet. And that again is supported by loads of brilliant local traders, great charities and organisations in there that can help give advice both to the community and to the wider public."
