A Scarborough Swimming club has been celebrating it's 45th birthday.
Kingfishers Swimming club was founded in 1979 and competes in range of regional and national competitions.
Vicky Gough says the last year has seen a real increase in the numbers of people wanting to compete for the club.
The club holds training sessions at Scarborough Sports Village. Swimmers are encouraged to take part in club events such as the Phillip and Amanda Lee Memorial Gala and Kingfishers Club Championships and are encouraged to support their fellow swimmers in local friendly and division events.
The club competes in regional and national competitions as well as organising open water swimming events and working with other local swim groups.
Paula and Vicky - from the club - say they have some big plans for the anniversary year including fundraising for a future event.
Kingfishers Swimming Club has charitable status and is run by volunteers. They say that one of their aims is to keep swimming accessible to all within the local area.
