Scarborough's popular Pomodoro Restaurant and Pizzeria has applied to North Yorkshire Council for a pavement licence to introduce outdoor seating.
A popular Italian restaurant on the North Yorkshire coast has applied for permission to place tables, chairs and umbrellas outside its premises.
The Pomodoro Restaurant and Pizzeria in Scarborough town centre is seeking a new pavement licence from North Yorkshire Council.
Applicant and restaurateur Alessandro Borzone has proposed siting six tables and a dozen chairs on the pavement outside the pizzeria.
If plans are approved, the restaurant would also be allowed to place two large umbrellas alongside the tables and chairs.
According to Pomodoro’s website, Mr Borzone’s expertise
“shines through in every dish, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients sourced from Italy and the UK, showcasing the best Italian cuisine with critically acclaimed pizzas, pasta, fish and meat dishes”.
On TripAdvisor, the establishment has a ‘very good’ rating of 4.6 stars out of five from 840 reviews, and is ranked number 24 out of 293 restaurants in the resort town.
The licensed restaurant was opened in 2013 and its
“emphasis has always been to serve quality and freshness”.
The pavement licence application is currently open to representations from members of the public.
The deadline for commenting on the proposal is Tuesday, May 26.
Anyone who wishes to make representations regarding the application must give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
The council can also be contacted by email at licensing.east@northyorks.gov.uk.
