The Scarborough Group Foundation, the charitable arm of Scarborough Group International, has announced its commitment to supporting the British Heart Foundation’s health innovation programme.
This support is aimed at strengthening the charity's efforts to improve the crucial ways in which people and families can access support for heart and circulatory conditions.
While the Foundation’s financial contribution is described as modest, it represents a shared conviction that accessible and early support is deeply important in improving long-term health outcomes for individuals. The BHF’s programme focuses on developing practical, community-focused ways for people to better understand and manage their heart health. This approach includes providing clearer information, creating easier-to-navigate support systems, and furnishing tools that help people take control of their own wellbeing.
The decision to back the BHF aligns with the parent organisation SGI’s broader focus on fostering environments that enable collaboration and innovation, particularly across the health and life sciences sectors. This strategy reflects national ambitions aimed at strengthening place-based innovation clusters designed to improve health and wellbeing across the UK.
Speaking on behalf of the trustees, Scott McCabe, spokesperson for the Scarborough Group Foundation, highlighted the pervasive impact of heart conditions on families across the region:
“Heart disease affects so many families, and the BHF’s work to make support clearer, earlier and more accessible is incredibly important.
We’re pleased to play a small part in helping people feel more informed and better connected to the care they need, and this sits naturally alongside our focus on supporting health innovation across the region.”
The commitment has been welcomed by the British Heart Foundation, which relies on partnerships to drive forward its life-saving mission.
Becca Compton, Trusts and Foundations Manager at the British Heart Foundation, expressed gratitude for the commitment:
“We are deeply grateful to the Scarborough Group Foundation for their generous support of the British Heart Foundation. This gift will help drive our mission to ensure that everyone living with heart disease can lead a longer, healthier life.
Partnerships like this are vital to our work, and we sincerely thank the Foundation for their commitment to improving the lives of people affected by heart disease.”
The Scarborough Group Foundation is dedicated to supporting initiatives that deliver a meaningful and lasting impact on communities in the UK and globally, focusing on health, education, community wellbeing, and youth development. The Foundation’s support for the BHF adds to its considerable wider charitable activity this year, where it has already provided over £83,315 to charities working across health, education, and community wellbeing. Since its inception, the Foundation’s total donations have reached £2.4 million, underscoring its long-term commitment to strengthening the communities in which the Group operates.
