The hot weather has caused the new track surface to take longer than expected to set.
As the Yorkshire Coast prepares to experience an Amber Extreme Heat Warning on Monday and Tuesday, dog walkers are being advised to avoid parts of the Cinder Track in Scarborough as the hot weather has caused new tarmac to take longer to set than usual.
The Cinder Track team say:
"Work continues at pace between Scarborough and Scalby by our re-surfacing contractors PBS Construction.
Dry weather has been a boon, but ironically the heat slows down the setting of the new tarmac.
Please observe any temporary closures and heed warning signs of newly-laid surface, especially if walking dogs.
Even if the machinery has moved off, the surface could still be hot to touch for several hours. "
Heather from Alma Vets in Scarborough says hot paving is a problem for dogs.
