The Scarborough Paragon cycling club formed in 1953 and has been operating in the town ever since.
Current member Steve Dodds says they have a number of celebrations planned for their 70th year.
As the club celebrates it's 70th birthday this summer their oldest rider will be marking the event with a special ride.
Steve Dodds says the club's chairman will be celebrating the milestone birthday in his own way.
The club are holding an anniversary dinner of June 3rd when it's hoped current and former members will be able to reminisce about the clubs long history.
The club are also taking part in Scarborough's Festival of Cycling later in June and have started running "Come and Try It" races for junior riders.
The Come and try it events will use use the top flat circuit on Olivers Mount to run 5 mile time trials on Friday evenings on Friday 9th June and Friday 23rd June. They are open to anyone aged 12 years and over and no club membership is necessary
Riders should turn up for 6.30pm for 7pm start. The event will consist of four 1.5 mile laps with riders setting off at one-minute intervals.
All riders must wear a hardshell helmet, have front and rear working lights and parental consent forms for under 18s which can be provided on the night. Riders can use any roadworthy bike (no e-bikes).
The club have arranged third party public liability insurance for the duration of the event and will have First Aid and Welfare Officers in attendance along with experienced marshals and signs in place.
