Organisers of Scarborough's Christmas Together Event say it was a "heart-warming success".
Held at the Gallows Close Centre, the event welcomed 33 guests on Christmas Day, creating a cozy, festive atmosphere filled with good food, laughter, and connection. The aim was to ensure that no one spent Christmas day alone.
David and Karen Brown from the organising team said:
"Thanks to the incredible generosity of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, the day was packed with meaningful moments. Guests enjoyed a traditional Christmas meal, entertainment, and the chance to mingle with others.
Local fundraiser Lily Porter played a huge role, helping with fundraising and meal prep—what a star! On top of that, we managed to support other local causes with extra food donations and community benefits.
The event’s finances were carefully managed, leaving a surplus of £1,061, which will go toward future initiatives.
Conversations are already underway to figure out how best to use the remaining funds and ensure Scarborough Christmas Together continues to make a difference.
Here’s to keeping the festive spirit alive and tackling social isolation—one Christmas at a time!"
