Scarborough Lions will be giving out £5,000 to deserving causes in the area.
David Hamilton runs Scarborough Lions' website and Facebook, he said there's been lots of fundraising over a vast period of time:
The fundraising group added:
"The Scarborough Lions 5K project was a great success. 12 awards were granted to local groups and schools. Over £5000 was given out. There were so many worthy requests.
"We are hoping this will become an annual event using the money the club has raised throughout our many fundraising events.
"Thanks to everyone who has supported the Scarborough Lions. Together we are making a big difference to our communities."
David detailed where the money will be spent:
The awards have been given to:
1) Springhead School. To help get new sensory mats, rainbow activity wall, and fibre optics.
2) Scarborough Disabled Swimming Group for Badges and books so all participants get rewarded for taking part in activities.
3) Coastline Sight and Hearing A breakfast club for their members.
4) Newly And Scalby Primary School. A mobile cloakroom to keep coats and bags dry and stored.
5) Northstead Community Pre School. Waterproof dungarees for outdoor play and education.
6) Cayton Primary School. A reading shed for relaxation and improving reading skills. Plus Denzel the well being dog will visit.
7) Derwent Valley BRIDGE Library. A children's library area revamp.
8) Gallows Close Centre. Helping start an S.E.N.D family club.
9) 49th Eastfield Scout group. Money towards a group Camp for all sections.
10) Closer Communities. An unbirthday party for their families who use their service.
11) Lindhead School. Books for class reading activities.
12) Scarborough Disability Action Group Treats for their service users.
