The borough council is working on a number of applications for funds from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund
Eastfield could get an electric mobility hub.
The hub would provide access to e-scooters and bikes and could also house an EV Car Club.
Scarborough Borough Council is working on an application to get UK shared prosperity fund cash to help deliver the scheme.
Steve Marsh is the council's Employment and Skills Manager, he says the E-hub project will be focused on Eastfield initially.
The borough council is preparing bids for UK Shared Prosperity funding for a number of different schemes which could also include making Scarborough a centre for cyber security and work to decarbonise a number of community buildings.
Steve Marsh says the decarbonising scheme would have a number of benefits.
North Yorkshire County Council has applied to the Government for cash from the UK Shared Prosperity fund, which was set up to replace EU funding. The Borough Council now has to apply to the county council for funding for individual projects.
Funding is not guaranteed and a report presented to the borough councils cabinet this week highlighted the competitive nature of the bidding process.
"applications to the North Yorkshire UKSPF are by means of a competitive process. It is anticipated that demand for this funding will be very high and there will be insufficient funding to support all submitted projects across the whole of North Yorkshire."
