A scheme to celebrate council workers in the Scarborough Borough is being encouraged by council Leader Steve Siddons
The council's Pride in our People programme is exploring ways to enhance the councils reward and recognition schemes.
The scheme is being shaped by council staff themselves.
Steve Siddons says part of the challenge is to improve communication between workers and recognise the variety of roles the council staff undertake.
Councillor Siddons also thinks the work that council staff carry out in the Scarborough Borough needs to be better recognised.
The Pride in Our People programme has introduced a way for council staff to send e-cards to colleagues to recognise achievements within the council, but Steve Siddons thinks that could be expanded to include public feedback.
The council says the programme has a number of aims:
"The ‘Pride In Our People’ programme aims to improve the Council by ensuring that the hard work, commitment and dedication of its workforce is recognised. In addition, the programme seeks to better equip our workforce to deliver on all the Council’s priorities by establishing an effective framework for future organisational development"
