Boro's Chairman says the football club will need fans at all home league games.
The current Covid-19 situation in the Borough of Scarborough means both Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town are unable to allow any fans into their stadiums to watch home matches.
Rather than play upcoming home matches behind closed doors, the clubs have worked hard to switch home fixtures to away ones.
Scarborough Athletic Chairman Trevor Bull has told 'This Is The Coast' today that the club will be OK as long as they can play all their home fixtures in front of fans:
"Moving the fixtures has given us a bit of breathing space in the current situation. Our next home match is scheduled for the 17th October and by then we hope to have some clarity. We had an inspection two weeks ago from the authorities who complimented us on all the work we had done. It was just at the time the call was made, the infection rates locally were rapidly rising. We are in constant dialogue with both the council and Public Health North Yorkshire to find a resolution. The most important thing is, by reversing the fixtures and not cancelling them, we still have 21 home games scheduled for the season and that's what our budgets are based on".
The club has begun Live Streaming matches on a pay per view platform, which helps fans watch the matches, and also boosts income a little, but Trevor says playing home league matches behind closed doors isn't an option:
"Playing behind closed doors isn't an option for us. It would ruin us financially. We did it for the FA Cup but there were a couple of reasons for that. We got money from the FA anyway. But our budgets are based on 600 plus crowds and 21 home games. There won't be any games played behind closed doors".
