Scarborough Athletic Football Club is set to hold an open meeting tonight to provide supporters and stakeholders with an update on the club's current situation.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 4th June, in the Marquee at Scarborough Cricket Ground. The venue and bar will be open from 6pm, with the meeting commencing at 7pm.
Scarborough Athletic Chairman Trevor Bull says it's an opportunity for the club to update fans on the latest information around the problems with the playing surface at Scarborough Sports Village and the clubs ground sharing arrangement with Bridlington Town for next season.
"As I see the three main purposes of the meeting is to inform, to make sure everyone knows absolutely everything that's, that's going on to ask for the help that we need and thirdly, to show the town and everybody that we're all in this together.
We make a lot of reference the fact that we're a fan zone club. And there's a real power in that. And there's a power in numbers. I would encourage anybody that's got any interest in our football club whatsoever, if you're a volunteer, a sponsor a member, an owner, a supporter, you know what, whatever link you have or even if you've just got an interest in what on earth is happening please come along and I hope you'll find it informative."
Trevor highlighted that communication has been a priority for the club since the problems arose,
"Right at the start of when these problems arose, one of the things that we felt was really important was that we communicated well with everyone and kept everyone informed. And we've been putting out weekly bulletins, et cetera, so we've been doing our best that way.
But I think the time has come is to see everyone face to face and give everybody an opportunity to, hear things firsthand understand everything that's going on possibly, ask them questions so they get the clarity that they need as well. So I think it's a really important meeting for the future of our club."
Progress regarding the Mounting Systems Stadium in Bridlington, where the club plans to play home games next season, is one of the key topics. The Board confirmed that work has commenced at the stadium and meetings have taken place with regulatory authorities in preparation for the new season.
Other important areas that will be discussed include the "No Battle No Victory" fund, which has been launched to help with the clubs finances.
Season passes are also currently on sale. Trevor Bull says there will be an opportunity to purchase season tickets and sign up for the "No Battle No Victory" fund in person at the meeting.
"There'll be an opportunity for people to to buy season tickets in person. I know some people like to do that rather than online, so that'll be available. There'll also be an opportunity to sign up for the no battle, no victory fund as well, bring your bank details.
We, we'll gladly take those off you. So yeah, it's it's a great opportunity for us all to get together because, it's been a few weeks now since the end of the season. There's been a lot of drama, a lot of comment, a lot of chat. And it'd be great to all get in one place, get everything, want to have a, we want to have a very open meeting so everybody understands everything.
But that camaraderie of sea dogs together is quite powerful. "
The Open Meeting is on Wednesday 4th June, in the Marquee at Scarborough Cricket Ground. The venue and bar will be open from 6pm, with the meeting commencing at 7pm.
