The Seadogs saw off Hull City Under 21s at the Flamingo Land Stadium on Saturday.
Jono Greening's men had a 2-1 victory against a young, but physical, Tigers line-up.
Alex Purver opened the scoring seven minutes before half-time with his first Boro goal.
However Hull levelled early in the second half, but one of the Seadogs' trialists fired in a winner, three minutes from time.
The win was marred however by Ashley Jackson being stretchered off inside the opening seven minutes.
