The pandemic has lead to a big increase in cases for the advice service.
The number of people seeking help from the Citizens Advice service in the Scarborough Borough massively increased during the pandemic as people sought help with employment, rent and debt issues.
Anne Marie Benson, Chief Exec of Citizens advice Scarborough and District says they have dealt with 13,000 issues over the last 12 months.
Anne Marie Benson says there have been a number of issues that have affected people during the pandemic and that many people who contacted the service needed help with multiple issues.
Citizens advice offer general advice with issues relating to:
Benefits, Debt & Money, Housing, Employment, Family & Relationship, Consumer, Immigration (for basic applications), Health, Travel, Communications & Utilities, Tax, Law & Courts, and many other issues.
They also offer more specialised services including:
Debt casework, Benefits appeals, Veterans Project for Money Advice, Hospital Project for cancer patients, advice & support for those suffering Mental Health issues, advice and support for Eastern European communities and advice for those with court proceedings around Housing, Discrimination and Family issues.
