The charity supports young people aged 16-25 facing homelessness locally.
Hosts offer a room on both an emergency basis (Nightstop) and as a longer-term option through SASH's 'supported lodgings'.
SASH hosts receive expenses payments for the support that they provide.
The charity would like to hear from you If you have a spare room and a caring approach to young people and the challenges they face.
You will get training and supervision to ensure you are fully supported 24/7.
Youth Homelessness is rising - sofa surfing, sleeping on their mates floor or car are all on the up on the Yorkshire Coast.
Paddy spoke to Kirsten Mearns, the Host Co-ordinator for SASH locally:
"Sadly we occasionally we have to turn young people away because there is more demand for places than we can offer at the moment. The qualities we are looking for in a host include a desire to help young people, a spare room. Most imprtantly a host needs to like and get on with young people. The host needs a basic understanding of the issues young people are going through. SASH will always be there to support you. Our current hosts in Scarborough and Whitby come from all backgrounds".

This is the Coast is committed to providing a daily local news service for the Yorkshire Coast. We are a small locally owned and operated business which employs professional journalists and reporters. We do not receive any public funding or grants and we are entirely funded by our local commercial operations. We enjoy fabulous support from local businesses who work with us on their advertising and marketing campaigns, but the cost of providing high quality, well researched, fact checked local news coverage is significant.
If you appreciate what This is the Coast does, and would like to help support our journalism, please consider supporting us on a monthly basis today.
A small contribution from all our readers would really help support independent journalism for the Yorkshire Coast.
