Residents at The Hall Care Home in Thornton le Dale have welcomed Santa’s Alpaca's to the home for an afternoon of festive fun.
The alpacas, who were performing their best reindeer impression by donning their festive antlers, were a hit with residents, who enjoyed interacting with the gentle creatures.
Brillo and her tiny guinea pig babies added to the fun, drawing smiles and laughter from everyone.
This visit is part of The Hall’s dedicated activities and well-being programme, which aims to create meaningful experiences for its residents throughout the year.
The team says that interactions with animals, like this special event, are not only entertaining but also offer significant therapeutic benefits, such as reducing feelings of loneliness, promoting emotional connection, and enhancing overall well-being.
Diane Hagan, manager at the home said:
“Our residents absolutely loved having Sunny, Sandstrom, and Brillo visit.
The alpacas were so gentle and approachable, and the guinea pigs brought so much joy with their tiny, playful antics. Seeing the residents’ faces light up as they interacted with the animals was truly heartwarming.
“It’s amazing how these moments, as simple as they may seem, can have such a meaningful impact. Spending time with animals helps lift spirits, creates a sense of connection, and brings a unique kind of joy that stays with you.
Activities like this are especially important during the festive season, as they make the holidays feel truly special for everyone involved.”
