Health bosses say a number of roles have been filled and a new pipeline of qualified nurses is about to come on stream.
Recruiting and retaining staff for the Yorkshire Coasts Hospitals has been an issue for a number of years with many specialist doctors gravitating towards the larger city hospitals which have specialist treatment centres.
But health leaders on the Yorkshire Coast say progress is being made.
The York and Scarborough NHS trust says 2 million pounds has been invested in staffing on the coast and says that with the first batch of nurses graduating from CU Scarborough this summer there is now a long-term feed of staff into the system.
The developments have been Welcomed by Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill.
York and Scarborough NHS trust say they have been looking at ways to tackle long term recruitment issues at local hospitals.
Simon Cox from the trust says the graduation this summer of the first batch of nurses from CU Scarborough's nursing programme is also a welcome boost.
