Local Business owners on the Yorkshire Coast have been thanked for their hard work in combatting COVID.
As the lockdown restrictions are eased- more businesses have been able to open up this week, including hairdressers and pubs with beer gardens.
Richard Webb is corporate director of health and adult services at North Yorkshire County Council, he says this week has been a key moment for the county and businesses have planned for it responsibly.
Richard Webb says he is delighted with the dramatic fall in the COVID infection rate in the Scarborough Borough this week. Yesterday the seven day infection rate per 100,000 people dropped to 17, it's lowest rate since September. Last week it had been as high as 52.
Richard says there is now a need to focus on maintaining that lower level of infection.
