A man has been arrested after Community Patrol officers were made aware of a suspected drink driver on Lansdowne Road in Bridlington at 3.20am on Friday morning.
When requested, the driver failed to stop on Quay Road, and a short pursuit ensued before the vehicle eventually came to a stop on Hill Street.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, is then alleged to have exited the vehicle and made off towards Moorfield Road in an attempt to evade officers.
He was swiftly detained and subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and using a vehicle without third party insurance.
He was further arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker while in police custody, where he remains at this time.
Humberside Police say they continue to encourage members of the public to report any road traffic offences and dangerous driving to them by calling the non-emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency, when safe to do so.
