Two North Yorkshire Police Bikers took an extended patrol of Ryedale, Whitby and Scarborough yesterday on some rather special bikes.
The Police Ducati Panigale and Supersport bikes were loaned to the force free of charge by the team at BikeSafe and were turning heads as they patrolled rural villages, towns and main routes in these busy areas.
The officers on patrol describe the bikes as "Two incredible machines" and say they were helping to spread the message about the Bikesafe programme.

"It was great to see so many residents and visitors come and chat to us during our patrols yesterday. It even made up for the soaking we got in the late afternoon!
We got chatting to a number of fellow bikers who were asking us about Bikesafe - a one-day workshop to help you become a more skilled rider.
There are still a couple of spaces available in August and September.
But don't dawdle - when they're gone, they're gone. And that'll be it until next year.
Visit www.bikesafe.co.uk/northyorkshire and click BOOK to see availability."

North Yorkshire Police offers the motorcycle workshops as part of the forces continuing drive to reduce road casualties.
"We offer motorcyclists the opportunity to complete their BikeSafe observed ride on some of the most picturesque roads in North Yorkshire. It’s a great opportunity to have your motorcycle skills assessed by one of our advanced police motorcyclists, with the aim of identifying areas of risk, improving your riding and make you a safer/more skilled motorcyclist."
The one-day workshops include a morning theory class that covers attitude, observation, cornering, overtaking, filtering, junctions, group riding, hazard awareness and the system of motorcycle control.
"This is not a lecture, and we encourage discussion throughout. If there is an area you want us to concentrate more on – just ask. Then it’s out on the road with a police motorcyclist for your observed ride. With a ratio of 2:1 we will observe your riding and give you objective feedback and advice on how to further improve."
