Officers from the Humberside Police's Roads Policing Team have seized 72 vehicles as part of a national intensification week targeting uninsured drivers on the roads.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team have been actively targeting uninsured motorists over the past week as part of Operation Drive Insured.
The initiative was structured as an intensification week, specifically aimed at identifying and stopping vehicles being driven without the necessary insurance coverage on the roads.
As a direct result of the targeted policing operation, officers successfully identified and subsequently seized a total of 72 vehicles that were found to be operating without valid insurance policies.
The operation was part of a wider national campaign designed to improve road safety and hold uninsured drivers accountable for their actions.
Police Constable Susan Scott, who led the operation, expressed her satisfaction with the dedication shown by the officers and the overall outcome of the campaign:
"I am really pleased to see these results from the national campaign our officers took part in. A total of 72 uninsured vehicles have now been seized which will help to make our roads safer."
"The public are the ones who are forced to pay the price of uninsured drivers, and the law is clear, it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure they are driving with insurance, whether it is a company vehicle or their own. All motor vehicles which are being used on a public highway must meet the minimum insurance requirements."
"I hope the outcome of Op Drive Insured serves as a reminder to drivers that we continue to take offences like this seriously and we will seize vehicles where it is appropriate to do so."
