A leading county councillor has highlighted the costs of installing public EV charging points.
The public need to understand the full cost of rolling out electric vehicle charging points across North Yorkshire.
That's according to the county council's deputy leader.
The authorities draft electric vehicle charging strategy would see 70 public charging points installed across the county. Currently the county has 225 public charging points, a study undertaken by the County Council has concluded that given the current rate in growth of electric vehicle ownership the area will need 724 public chargers by 2025 and 3,161 by 2030.
Councillor Gareth Dadd says the costs are significant.
The county council is to Launch a consultation on the plans.
Executive member for transport - Councillor Keane Duncan - has reassured council members that the costs involved in the charging roll-out would be covered by central government funding.
Councillor Duncan says the plan is just one part of a wider initiative by the local enterprise partnership.
