North York Moors Preparing for Further Lockdown Easing

Bosses at the North Yorkshire National Park say there are challenges ahead.

The North York Moors National Park is gearing up to welcome back more visitors from May 17th.

Park bosses say the bank holiday weekend went well, but that more people may be tempted to visit over the spring bank holiday in a few weeks time which will be after the lockdown restrictions are further eased.

Michael Graham is the Director of Park Services, he thinks the changes planned to the COVID regulations on May 17th will be the turning point.

Michael says there have been some benefits to the park from the reduction in visitor numbers during the lockdowns but, as the easing of restrictions last summer showed, there will be some challenges to come in the weeks ahead.
