Six dedicated NHS staff members have successfully tackled the gruelling Total Warrior Great Northern Mud Run, raising more than £2,000 to support patient care at York and Scarborough hospitals.
Six dedicated NHS staff members have recently taken on the gruelling Total Warrior Great Northern Mud Run, successfully raising more than £2,000 for the York and Scarborough Hospitals Charity.
Taking on the physically demanding obstacle course, the team embraced the challenge with the aim of supporting areas of care that remain close to their hearts within the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
During the event, five of the participating staff members joined forces to form Team Haematology. This specific group dedicated their efforts to raising funds directly for the Haematology Department.
The money raised by Team Haematology will be used to help purchase new equipment. This investment is set to enhance one of the patient rooms and improve the overall experience of patients receiving care in the department.
The Total Warrior Great Northern Mud Run provides a unique opportunity for participants to push themselves to the limit. Those taking part are required to tackle deep mud, water features, and a variety of challenging obstacles, all while raising money for causes close to their hearts.
The charity notes that the money raised from such events will help to fund vital improvements to both patient care and hospital environments, providing enhancements that go above and beyond what standard NHS funding alone can provide.
Natalie Marriott, Events Fundraiser for York and Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said:
"We're incredibly proud of all six participants for taking on the Total Warrior Great Northern Mud Run this year. Completing such a physically demanding challenge is a fantastic achievement, and to raise more than £2,000 alongside it is incredible.”
