Girlguiding volunteers in Scarborough West Division have welcomed Amelia Forrest as their new Division Commissioner.
Amelia recently took over from Gill Armstrong after her 5 year tenure ended at the annual AGM. A large number of volunteers also received awards for 5,10,20,30 and 40 years long service and qualifications at the same meeting. They were presented by the County Commissioner, Rachel Lamond.

“I am honoured to take on this important role and would like to thank Gill for all the dedication she has shown to the members of Scarborough West Division she will be a hard act to follow. Girlguiding enables girls to experience adventure, voice their opinions and grow in confidence in a safe place and I plan to help our volunteers offer these valued opportunities to even more local girls.”
Frances Harrison, Division president, said:
"Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. By giving just one or two hours a week, our volunteers help local girls and young women enjoy a wide range of exciting activities, as well as acquire new skills and experiences – and have fun at the same time."
Amelia also adds
“Some of our units are in need of extra leaders at the moment. I would urge anybody who is interested in joining us to register on the Girlguiding website.”
The charity welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. For more information about volunteering with Girlguiding, visit www.girlguiding.org.uk
