Nearly Half of all incidents that were attended by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service last year were false alarms.
The service says it saw a five percent increase in overall incident numbers but that increase was less than other areas of the country.
Damian Henderson is Director of Service Improvement and says the number of call outs increased in 2022.
The Fire and Rescue Service say 1,967 call outs in 2022. Of those incidents only 357 were to Fires, 695 were to what are classed as "Special Service" which includes road traffic collisions, 915 of the calls were false alarms.

Damian Henderson says that of the 1967 incidents it's not unusual for so many of them to be false alarms.
