Staff and residents at a Scarborough retirement community are celebrating after their manager was named as a winner at a national industry awards.
Liz Jones, Retirement Communities Manager at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Jazz Court retirement community in Eastfield, won the Integrated Retirement Community Hero award at the national Housing with Care Awards. The winners were announced at a gala evening on Friday 7 June, which was held at the Hilton Bankside in London.
Liz was recognised for her outstanding, inclusive, and holistic approach to building community connections, preventing social isolation, and supporting older people to lead vibrant, independent lives.
Alongside Liz, Sanctuary Supported Living had an incredible 17 other finalists in the running at the Housing with Care awards, which led to a total of four award wins, as well as being ‘highly commended’ in a further two categories, smashing last year’s record of 13 finalists and three winners.
Sanctuary Supported Living’s Director, Dave Shaw, said:
“I am immensely proud of all our finalists at the Housing with Care Awards, and especially our team members who were named as winners or highly commended in their respective categories.
“It was an honour to be celebrating the achievements of the best of the best from across the supported housing industry, and knowing that our colleagues have topped the list is really the icing on the cake.
Liz’s success is a wonderful reflection of Sanctuary Supported Living’s commitment to provide the highest-quality care and support for all our customers.”
As well as retirement communities for people aged over 55, or with long-term care needs, Sanctuary Supported Living also provides accommodation and support for people with learning and physical disabilities, people with mental health needs, and homeless young people and adults.
