North Yorkshire Police are investigating after stones, rocks and eggs were thrown at vehicles on Saturday evening.
Officers from both the Scarborough Neighbourhood Policing Team and British Transport Police were on patrol in Scarborough Town Centre on Saturday evening following reports of Anti Social Behaviour.
The Police used a section 35 dispersal authority to enable officers to direct a person over the age of 10, to leave the town centre to prevent members of the public in the locality from being harassed, alarmed or distressed.
Officers said:
"We had reports of a large group being involved in throwing stones/rocks and eggs at vehicles round the town centre. An investigation has now commenced.
There have been dispersal notices handed out to some young people, with others being taken home by police. Some parents have also been receiving calls from us. "
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone who has had their vehicle damaged or those who have been targeted to get in touch by calling 101 quoting reference number NYP-15022025-0328.
