Residents in the Scarborough Borough are being asked how the streets in the borough could be made safer.
Scarborough Borough Council is consulting with the public as part of its Safer Streets initiative
People, especially women and girls, are being asked to take a survey which will ask which areas people feel unsafe or uncomfortable in, the time of day when incidents may have happened to them and any other concerns they may have.
The consultation states:
“Our borough is one of the safest in North Yorkshire and your chance of becoming a victim of crime here is incredibly low.
“However, we know that some incidents may go unreported and that some people may be nervous when out and about.
“That is why we regularly look at ways we can make our streets and open spaces even safer.
“That is the purpose of this consultation.
“We would like to understand your personal experiences or any safety concerns you have.
“We will use your feedback to help us plan a programme of improvements.
“This consultation is open to everyone, but we are really keen to hear from women and girls in particular.”
