Two swimmers in Hornsea have been checked over by a casualty care team after getting into difficulty between the groynes near the rescue launch beach.
Two swimmers have escaped a potentially serious incident after getting into difficulty in the water off the coast of Hornsea.
Hornsea Inshore Rescue were tasked to the emergency at 12:43 pm today following reports of two people struggling while swimming between the groynes near the charity's launch beach.
The volunteer crew quickly responded to the area, but the situation was resolved before they needed to enter the water.
A spokesperson for Hornsea Inshore Rescue said:
"Thankfully, the casualties in the water managed to get to safety as Crew were arriving and we were stood down by HM Coastguard.
Two of our casualty care team attended to the casualties on the beach to check them over and was happy that no further medical attention was necessary."
The incident, which was recorded as call out number seven for the year 2026, has prompted the life-saving charity to issue vital safety reminders for anyone planning to enter the sea along the East Riding coast.
Hornsea Inshore Rescue advised:
"Please always make sure soneone has eyes on you whilst in the water, use a tow float and high visibility swimwear, and If you get into difficulty, don't panic, float to live, raise the alarm by shouting for help.
Or If you see someone in the water in difficulty, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard."
