Two people and their two dogs were rescued after being cut off by the tide near Rolston, East Yorkshire.
The incident prompted a rapid response from the volunteer crew at Hornsea Inshore Rescue, who were alerted by MRCC Bridlington at 10:43am.
In a statement shared via social media, Hornsea Inshore Rescue confirmed that
“a crew of four launched promptly and reached them within minutes.”
The walkers and their dogs were brought safely back to the Hornsea lifeboat station, where they were assessed by rescue personnel and the Hornsea Coastguard.
All were found to be safe and well,” the organisation added, noting that the group were able to “carry on with their day — including finishing their afternoon walk.”
The charity-run lifeboat service used the rescue as an opportunity to urge the public to take care along the coast. “Please remember: tide times can catch you out faster than expected,” they warned. “Always check the tide before heading out — what starts as a peaceful walk can quickly become a dangerous situation.”
The rescue highlights the ongoing vigilance of East Yorkshire’s volunteer lifeboat crews and the essential support provided by coastguard coordination. Hornsea Inshore Rescue has been operating since 1994, offering critical emergency services along this stretch of the Yorkshire coastline.
In case of emergencies at sea, the public is reminded to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
