Sleights Football Club are celebrating a crucial grant from the Football Foundation to fund their Under 13s side's goalposts for the coming season.
Mark Jackson and Tom Welford's team will require larger almost-full-sized goals from September and a grant of more than £1,000 has ensured they can now be bought.
Manager, Jackson said:
"We are absolutely thrilled to have managed to secure funding for our youth sides and in particular for equipment to allow us to continue to grow and develop our youngsters.
"The Football Foundation backing will allow us to buy a set of top quality goal posts that will last for years and help secure youth football right up to hopefully featuring in the adult side in years to come."
As of next season, the club will have sides at under 13 and under 12 level, both of which are on the lookout for new players, they ask any parents/guardians with a child interested who is currently in school year 5,6 or 7, to get in touch.
The club are also launching a Sleights Mini Ballers session to run through the summer, taking place Sunday mornings for boys and girls of any ability between the ages of 4 and 8.
Any parents/guardians interested in either side, or the younger group can get in touch with Mark on 07818065164, or email the club on sleightsfc@gmail.com.
Training starts at Sleights' AC Building and Property Maintenance Sports Ground on 4th April in line with the government's Covid roadmap.
