Thousands of free school uniform items will be handed out to families in Scarborough this week to help with financial pressures and reduce landfill waste.
Free school uniforms will be handed out to families in Scarborough this week as a community giveaway event returns to the town.
A wide range of primary and secondary school clothing will be available completely free of charge to anyone who needs it.
The available items include shirts, trousers, jumpers, cardigans, blazers, PE kits, shoes, and coats. The giveaway will also feature ex-Rumours stock alongside the recycled garments.
The giveaway week runs from Tuesday, July 21st, to Friday, July 24th, 2026, at Westborough Methodist Church, which is located opposite the train station.
Organisers at Scarborough Uniform Recycle have been collecting and distributing the clothing since 2021, helping thousands of local children in the process.
A spokesperson for Scarborough Uniform Recycle said:
"Over 2000 children have received uniform from us in that time and we look forward to continuing this work, with the aim of helping families during challenging financial times as well as helping the environment and diverting clothing from landfill."
The doors will open at various times throughout the week to give families flexibility to browse the items.
- The sessions begin on Tuesday evening between 6pm and 8pm.
- On Wednesday, the church will be open from 10am to 12pm, and again in the afternoon from 1pm to 3pm.
- Further sessions will take place on Thursday from 1pm to 3pm, and an evening slot from 6pm to 8pm.
- A final morning session will be held on Friday from 10am to 12pm.
