A free mental health toolkit is being made available to businesses on the Yorkshire Coast to help smaller firms identify potential mental health problems and know what to do and where to go for advice.
The toolkit has been produced by East Yorkshire Mind for the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership
Sam Alexander from the LEP says it's about giving the coast's many smaller companies focused support.
Promoting good mental health & well-being for colleagues within our businesses has become increasingly important, especially in light of the impact the Covid Pandemic & its restrictions is having on everyone.
With many smaller firms not having access to an in house HR department, Sam says the kit offers practical tools and advice on a range of issues including how to have conversations about mental health.
The toolkit includes information and advice about businesses legal responsibilities in terms of providing mental health support in the work place. Sam Alexander says the information has been vetted by legal professionals to provide local business leaders with clarity on their responsibilities
Sam adds that while providing support around mental health issues for a companies staff is vitally important the toolkit also looks at how business owners can look after their own mental health as well.
The toolkit was originally released in 2019, Sam says over the last two years they have received a lot of positive feedback about the toolkit.
The toolkit can be downloaded from the North Yorkshire Growth Hub website https://www.ynygrowthhub.com/resources/free-download-mental-health-toolkit/
