Bridlington Town enjoyed a thumping win over Pickering Town to further increase their chances of NPL East survival.
Brett Agnew's men hammered their rivals 5-2 at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium, on Bank Holiday Monday.
Despite going behind inside 12 minutes, Agnew himself levelled matters on the half hour. Danny Earl then put Brid ahead just before half-time.
Agnew quickly made it 3-1 with a penalty three minutes into the second period. Flynn McNaughton then netted again for the hosts, just two minutes later. William Annan made sure of the points with Brid's third goal in 11 minutes at the start of the second half. The Pikes scored a late consolation.
Brett Agnew told Brid Town TV it was an important win:
Scarborough Athletic are within six points of the NPL Premier play-offs with a game in hand over fifth-placed Warrington Town after earning a last-gasp point.
The Seadogs fell behind to visitors Morpeth Town, four minutes before half time and the 1,282 crowd at the Flamingo Land Stadium had to wait until injury time for Boro's equaliser.
With goalkeeper Ryan Whitley joining team-mates in the Morpeth box, former Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Maloney swung over a free-kick from just to the left of the penalty area, some six yards from the touchline and curled the ball into the top-right corner of the net.
Whitby Town slipped out of the play-off places after an entertaining 2-2 draw with South Shields at The Towbar Express Stadium. The North East side led inside the first minute but Jacob Hazel quickly levelled, ten minutes later.
In a sea-saw encounter, the NPL Premier's fourth-placed outfit went back in front, with 16 minutes left, but again, ex-Scarborough striker Hazel- now the division's top scorer- made it 15 league goals with the equaliser, nine minutes from time.
The draw allowed Warrington Town to leapfrog the Blues on goal difference with a 4-1 win at Witton, though Whitby have a game in hand. The two sides meet at the Towbar Express Stadium, next month.
All three of our local teams are away on New Year's Day, this Saturday, with Whitby at Morpeth and Scarborough going to South Shields in NPL Premier.
Bridlington go down the coast to Cleethorpes in NPL East.
