Pupils will not now return until after the Easter break.
The School closed to pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 on Wednesday due to staff shortages.
In an update today the school say:
"Unfortunately, due to continued staff absences we will remain closed to the majority of pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10 on Friday 8th April.
Pupils in these years who have an Education Health Care Plan and those pupils who are registered as Key worker students should still attend school as normal.
For all of our pupils that we will now not see until after the Easter Holidays, we hope you have a lovely break and look forward to welcoming you back on the Monday 25th April."
In a letter to parents on Wednesday, interim headteacher Ms Britton said:
"This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and I completely appreciate and understand the inconvenience that this decision will cause for many families. However, it would not be safe, or responsible, to keep the school open without the staffing levels we need for the safe running of our school. Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and wider school community is our absolute priority, and we must ensure we have all the staff we need on site to support our pupils safely and effectively.
Whilst ensuring the health and safety of our pupils and wider school community is absolutely paramount, we remain committed to providing a consistent education for your child and are doing all we can to minimise any disruption to learning. Therefore, pupils in Year 8, 9 and 10 will follow their usual school timetable using remote learning. Work for pupils will be available on Google Classroom at 8.40am each morning and pupils are expected to follow their normal timetabled lessons when accessing work. If you experience any issues with remote learning, please do contact us at admin@fs.ebor.academy
Pupils who have an Education Health Care Plan and those pupils who are registered as Key worker students in Year 8, 9 and 10 should attend school as normal. Families who receive Free School Meals will receive supermarket vouchers by text. Any safeguarding concerns should be reported in to Mrs Emmerson, Safeguarding Lead on jemmerson@fs.ebor.academy or Mrs Pickering, Deputy Safeguarding Lead on apickering@fs.ebor.academy"
