A volunteer fundraising group which supports an end of life charity is looking for new Treasurer to help with their charitable efforts.
The Filey Fundraising Group for Marie Curie, has been running since 2007 and has since raised over £80,000 for the charity.
Volunteer for the Filey Fundraising Group, Carole Darling, said:
“I have been part of this group for 15 years and thoroughly enjoy myself. We make a difference locally by helping to raise the vital funds needed to support Marie Curie Nurses, who provide free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes. We do a number of collections locally over the year and get involved with the Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party”
Marie Curie Fundraising Groups promote fundraising within the local community by organising fundraising activities and collections, encouraging new volunteers to help the charity, as well as supporting Marie Curie’s major fundraising campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party.
All money raised by the Filey Fundraising Group will help Marie Curie provide expert care, guidance and support to help people with a terminal illness, and their families, get the most from the time they have left.
Community Fundraiser Amelia Forrest said:
“Our Filey Fundraising Group has been around for 15 years and have raised over £80,000. The members are very committed to Marie Curie and work extremely hard for which we are extremely grateful. I’d also like to say thank you to all our supporters in Filey area.
Locally, Marie Curie Nurses work night’s, in people’s homes across Filey providing hands-on care and vital emotional support.”
Marie Curie also supports people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained Helper volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk. The charity is also the leader in end of life research into better ways of caring for people with terminal illnesses.
