Filey Kite Festival is on across this weekend and organisers are determined for the wet weather not to put a dampener on things.
Filey Kite Festival showcases some of the world's largest and most colourful kites.
Organisers say the event is still set to go ahead despite the wet forecast:
'We can confirm that Filey Kite Festival is STILL on.
'Don those wellies, wrap up warm and bring your brolly. We're not going to let some bad weather spoil the fun.'
The event showcases some of the world’s largest and most colourful kites.
Here's one of the organisers, Vicki Jones:
"We've got a full program of displays program in for Saturday and for Sunday. We've also partnered with Ley Food Festival to bring you lots of lovely stalls, lots of food and drink stalls, some fairground rides as well. And the little train that goes around the arena, it's like a natural arena. So the kits got an interactive program as well, which which has been developed by the Northern Kite Group who we work with.
"And so we've got Learn to fly Your Kite in a separate arena, right at the top of the field. I think it'll pick up plenty of wind up there. You've got the teddy bear drop. Learn to fly a tri bike kite, which is a really kite that looked like the sea creatures. We've never had that before at the event.
"That's really exciting this time."
The skies over Filey Brigg are transformed into a canvas of vibrant kites, which in previous years has included designs depicting clownfish, huge pandas, snakes and even giant octopuses! There are also food and drink stalls and children’s rides. The event is free to attend.
Vicki says the kites are set to dominate the Filey skyline:
" Whatever direction you come into fire from, you can see them. They definitely need some wind, but they're so skilled at the display artists, we don't want rain because that does make the kites too heavy to fly. The kite flies are always really enthusiastic. They love chatting to visitors about their kites and the skill involved in how to actually get them into the sky.
"Yet it's fantastic. So Saturday and Sunday file a kit festival at Country Park in file eight with full program from 10 o'clock until four o'clock. Lots of food stores from all around the world, fairground rides and lots of kits."
