East Riding Council is to receive over £22 million from the Government’s investment in highways maintenance.
It's to fill potholes and repair roads, a figure that includes a potential £5,876,000 in ‘new funding’ which will be delivered if ‘incentives’ are met.
A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said:
“The council welcomes the news of this latest funding from the Government for road repairs, which is a significant increase on funding awarded in previous years.
“This money will be invested in additional maintenance and repair schemes across the East Riding to enhance the safety and quality of our roads and footways.
“Our highway network, along with councils nationally, has suffered many years of under-investment and we will continue to work hard to ensure we make the best of the funding we receive from Central Government.”
