The Transport Minster offers a vague response as Filey's MP asks about plans to dual the A64.
Filey MP Kevin Hollinrake says more needs to be done to Dual the A64 between York and Scarborough.
Mr Hollinrake asked the Secretary of State for Transport - Grant Shapps, to provide an update on the Governments plans in the House of Commons yesterday.
The reply was that dualling the road was an "option for consideration".
National Highways have been working on a proposal to Dual a stretch of the road between Hopgrove at York and Barton le Willows. A public consultation on the plans took place in October and November.
However any decision to proceed with the improvements would be made by the government.
On their website National Highways say:
"We’re developing plans to improve the A64 around the Hopgrove junction to Barton-le-Willows, to tackle problems with the current route and to make sure it’s fit for the future.
This scheme is one of over 30 that we’re considering around the country, as part of a steady and flexible pipeline of schemes. These pipeline schemes were announced in our 2020-25 Delivery Plan. We’ll be considering these for potential construction beyond 2025, but currently there’s no commitment from government to develop this scheme beyond the current stage."
