The Yorkshire Coast is providing the backdrop for a new music video which will see drones used to film four DJ's performing sets in iconic locations.
The filming for the elevate project will take place over the next few weeks.
Helen Mitchell is from Drone Support Services who are helping with the project, she says the resulting film will be used to promote both the DJ's and the Yorkshire Coast to new audiences.
The video will use drone technology to provide aerial shots of the DJ sets and the local landscapes.
Helen says the idea is to capture different parts of the coast at different times of day providing a dawn to dusk experience.
During the pandemic, the loss of opportunities to dance and enjoy live music has hit the entertainment business and those who love festivals and clubbing extremely hard. It was something that Richard Mitchell, founder of Drone Support Services, wanted to address. As someone who has enjoyed dance music for many years, he was inspired to support local DJs in some way. Both Richard and his wife Helen are regular visitors to Whitby and the North Yorkshire coast, and developed the concept of making a film showcasing local talent in beautiful heritage locations in this area.
The Project is being run on a not for profit basis with Secret Sub Rosa. The team have released a teaser video featuring some their initial footage.
Today launches an ongoing collaborative project between Drone Support Services and @Secret_Sub_Rosa Events. Helen added :
‘Our original plan was to find one young local DJ to feature in our film. I contacted lots of local Facebook groups and several names kept coming up, so we decided to extend the film to encompass several DJs in different locations. At that point we were approached by Secret Sub Rosa, who said they had been thinking of doing something similar and had experience in running music events.’
The final film is expected to be released over the summer.
