North Yorkshire Police has launched a detective academy in an effort to fill a gap in its workforce.
Across the country there is a shortage of detectives, the North Yorkshire force is currently 37 short of a full compliment.
Detective Superintendent, Fran Naughton, says the force is taking a number of steps to fill the vacancies including talent spotting from within its own ranks.
DS Naughton say the force is taking a number of steps to attract new people into the roles.
The North Yorkshire Force has also launched a degree holder entry programme to become a detective and has created a video to attract people to the roles featuring the experiences of some North Yorkshire Police detectives who do the job already.
